The stars at night are still big and bright, deep in the heart of Austin, Texas
One of my favorite things to do, especially lately is taking a drive in the evening when the stars are out and shining bright. I may be a little biased, but I have always been a sucker for a Texas sunset, and the nights are even better. Those beautiful stars shine like no other! So why would we want to dull down the Texas sky? We don’t!
Our clients that live in a dark sky community most commonly will ask; can I get landscape lights, will they comply with the rules and regulations, lastly - do you know what those rules and regulations are?
The answer is YES, YES, and YES!
Community lighting rules and regulations tend to be pretty similar across the board. If there are any that have a few extra guidelines, no need to worry - we will learn and follow them! We have done our homework and continue educating ourselves regarding all lighting ordinances. Our lighting specialist's top priority is making sure that we are all compliant!
With that being said; when it comes time to do our installs for any dark sky community, we make sure that the lights and fixtures are:
H.O.A. approved
There is no light pollution
The source of the light bulbs will not be visible and every fixture complies with the ordinance
Your lights are not spilling into your neighbor's yards, nor are they facing directly in their yards or windows (Although, they might want them too when they see how great they look!)
If there are lights on the house, we make sure the lights do not extend past the height of the house
